One of the simplest and most direct applications is the indexing of pre-recorded videocassettes and DVDs to bring a level
of interactivity to otherwise linear media. In addition to the embedded on-screen 'menus' necessary for timeshift-delivered
indexed video, cassette jackets can carry printed instructions and menus for easy access at any time by the user. The
Asthma Society of New Zealand has made such use of QUICKSCAN in a 'Video Resource' cassette mailed to adult students throughout
Australia and New Zealand. This Resource is linked by 'page-numbers' to topics in the printed materials, thus providing
multimedia demonstrations of key procedures and exposure to key individuals in the field.
